At the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century, the tower became dilapidated and has been scaffolded since 1980. The top of the tower collapsed in parts and leaned more and more to one side. The tower, which is 24 meters high, has been renovated since 2012.

The powder tower has three floors and was built from sandstone blocks on a square floor plan. It reaches a height of 24 meters. To the east towards the city, the two lower floors have an opening in the form of pointed arches, the upper floor in the form of a coupled cloverleaf. The spire is octagonal and slated. There are four roof bay windows with their own gables.
