The bronze sculpture "The Step of the Century" was made by Wolfgang Mattheuer in 1984. The sculpture, which is located in Leipzig, was erected in front of the Contemporary History Forum in 1999. The sculpture "symbolizes the relationship of the Germans to the two totalitarian systems in the 20th century."
