Monte Velha is one of the largest forests in Cape Verde.
Here it is always cool and shady.
Acacia, cypresses, pines and eucalyptus are abundant here.
It offers beautiful views and photo opportunities.

Acacias, cypresses, pines and eucalyptus were planted on a large scale on the northern flank of Pico do Fogo in the 1940s. Today Monte Velha is one of the largest forests in Cape Verde. It's always cool and shady here, and the yellow and green lichens that cover the trees collect the water from the air with their fine branches. Perfect for getting rid of the heat!
