Brambles, junipers, myrtle, thyme, sage and other plant species that are part of the world of the Mediterranean scrub almost completely impede the passage, offering resistance to those who want to travel it, a resistance that can be overcome with effort and a lot of willpower. There would be a desire to widen the gap in the future but nature, scents and stone are taking over, the only evidence of how man had bent the surrounding area to his interests. In the meantime I'm content to record the passage, then time will tell who was right about the other.
