Basically, such historical green spaces and gardens like the old (and later also the new) Stadtgarten of Neuss, which we need so much nowadays and enjoy our stay there, are the best proof that people knew a long time ago how important it is to relax "in the country" in the middle of the city - and with it the opportunity to take a break from everyday life.
It was only in the last century that the "modern" city planners managed to concret everything in as much as possible.
