After a juried, national sculpture competition with over 170 entries from 74 renowned artists, ten fairy tale sculptures were created in the city center in spring 2016. Together with the locations of the Grimm family's former birthplaces and homes and of course the national monument on Neustadt's market square, they form the "Hanau Fairy Tale Trail". The sculptures show "fairy tales from the Main region" that were once told to the brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm by Jeanette, Amalie and Marie Hassenpflug for their famous collection of children's and household tales.
