Celtic millstones had already been found on Kirchberg in Dossenheim in 2014 by the stone sculptor Knut Hüneke, who worked here. This made it clear that stones were being mined and processed in our area around 2,500 years ago. The so-called “Napoleon hats” because of their typical shape were used by the Celts to grind grain and other ground materials. This find caused a small sensation in expert circles, as such grinding stones have not been found anywhere else in a place that has remained relatively intact in the following centuries to this day .

Museum mill

In the museum mill, under the expert guidance of the mill professor, you can see how grain was ground into flour in the old mills. Driven by the power of the water, the mill wheel turns and sets the millstone in motion. Bread baking for groups is possible on request and by prior arrangement. (Original wood-fired oven)
