The access to the Hooksieler Binnentief is directly from the Jade fairway, via a channel cut out on the starboard side, to the Hooksieler lock. The channel marked with directional beacons with a water depth of approx. 2 m at low water is narrow and tends to silt up. However, it is regularly dredged. In the outer harbor you can find a little more water on the muddy ground than in the entrance. Berths to wait for a lock can be found alongside fishing boats or on the sheet pile wall.

From here you have a beautiful view over large parts of the entrance to the Jade Bay. Often you can see the large ships in the distance, either entering the Jade-Weser Port or heading out into the world. The interplay of light on the water and sky is very beautiful in this expansive view.
