From Tripod Peak Lookout, there are good views of the surrounding countryside in all directions, hence the manned fire lookout that can be found on top.

There are plenty of forest service campgrounds in the area, but the meadows on the ridge top are broad and open making them an attractive place to camp. The views are great and as long as the weather is good anywhere along the ridge will do fine. Blue Lake, which sits just below the ridge in a beautiful rocky bowl would also be an ideal place to camp.
