Seespitz is the final stop of the Achenseebahn. The Achensee steam rack railway has been clawing its way up the mountain, snorting and hissing, for 1889 years. From Jenbach in the Inntal to Lake Achensee, it climbs 440 meters over just under seven kilometers. It is the oldest of its kind in Europe and is still in tireless use. When she reaches the top and pauses to breathe at the lake, an Achensee shipping steamer is already waiting.
