When the Saxon state leader, Gustel von Blücher, visited Leipzig for a lecture in April 1912 and saw the Monument to the Battle of the Nations under construction, she was so impressed that the idea arose that, in addition to the symbol of liberation from the external tyrant, a symbol of future liberation from the internal tyrant, alcohol, should also be built in the form of an alcohol-free restaurant.

Construction began on March 11, 1913, and the ceremonial opening took place on September 18, 1913, four weeks before the inauguration of the Monument to the Battle of the Nations.

The building is about 100 years old and was originally built as a bar. Nice to look at. From here it is a stone's throw to the monument.
