The summit of Samlen offers wide views over the Hardangerfjord and the surrounding valleys. The trail up is steep but well-marked, with rocky sections and open terrain near the top. A rewarding spot to catch your breath and take in the Norwegian landscape from above.

A new trail equipped with huge stone steps placed by Nepalese Sherpas ascends the southern face. This new ascent and descent route is recommended over the old one that ascends from the road to the east, which is much steeper and rockier.
