This building, in the corner of the Beestenmarkt, is the only remaining part of the monastery that was founded by the Cross Brothers in 1429. After the city fire, it was converted into a city workhouse in 1578, a building that was under the management of the city council. In 1670 the Latin school moved to this location. the school was abolished in 1788.
Today it houses the cultural center "Podium 't Beest".
Podium 't Beest is a popular entertainment and culture center in the middle of the city center. The program includes music, theater, ... all year round.
