From 1892 to 1938 one of three Jewish synagogues in Groß-Gerau stood here. The square is well maintained and, in addition to the memorial stone, also offers an information board with detailed further information.

Inscription: “The Jewish community’s church, built in 1892, stood here. It was destroyed on November 9, 1938 on the orders of an inhumane regime. A warning to the living! The district town of Groß-Gerau.”

In November 2005, this square, where the former synagogue stood, was redesigned. The artist Mario Derra created a new monument incorporating the memorial stone from 1988.
