Inserted in the baroque east wing (so-called "gallery wing") is the representative Koblenzer Tor. It is a baroque, three-story gatehouse, which differs in its architecture clearly from the rather bare and not plastically shaped building of the main building. The construction spans the present federal highway 9 to Koblenz. The Koblenz Gate was also called the "Michael's Gate" because the large hall in the middle building level was originally used as the seat or meeting place of the Order of St. Michael.
