In 1861 Werdohl station was put into operation together with the Ruhr-Sieg line. From 1887, the route of the Altenaer Eisenbahn from Lüdenscheid (called "Schnurre"), which is reminiscent of a memorial nearby (corner of Bahnhofstrasse and Schnurrestrasse), also ended here.
The current station building was erected in 1914. In 2016, the station was recognized as a NRW hiking station.

At the end of the tour we still had some time before the train left. Lo and behold: a nice café in the train station. Seats in front of, behind and in the station, selection of cakes and tarts, coffee variations. Not spectacular, but tasty and solid.
