The gate was built in the 15th century. The brick gatehouse has four corner towers. The domed turret was renovated in 1858. Housed in it is the oldest carillon in the Netherlands (1554), from the old town hall.

Yürüyüş

A very beautiful harbor gate with a drawbridge in the south of Zierikzee.

Zierikzee has largely preserved its medieval fortified form. In the 14th century, the town was surrounded by a moat and a wall. This wall was reinforced with about twenty, mostly semicircular, towers. Six gates provided access to the fortress. These include the Zuidhavenpoort (South Harbor Gate), which was intended to protect the southern harbor entrance.

Yürüyüş

This gate is one of the three gates of Zierikzee and stands at the entrance of the old city harbor. This gate tower was built in the Middle Ages. The brick building has corner towers. The domed tower was renewed in 1858 and contains the oldest carillon in the Netherlands, which is mentioned historically until 1554. The Zuidhavenpoort is a landmark, a cultural heritage site, a national monument and a tourist attraction, with a white drawbridge in front of the gate.
