Side paddle steamer, built in 1926 (Hitzler /Regensburg), commissioned in 1927, hull: iron, engines: J.A. Maffei (360 hp), rebuilt in 1972/1973 and 1991/1992 (2 MAN diesels), length 53.00 m, width 6.00 m (with wheel housing 11.60 m), 685 people.
The Ludwig Fessler runs hourly scheduled services on the Chiemsee from Prien am Chiemsee or Gstadt to the islands of Herreninsel (Herrenchiemsee Castle) and Fraueninsel (scheduled services all year round, only used in the summer months) as well as special and charter trips (owner: Chiemsee-Schiffahrt Ludwig Fessler) .

In the spring of 1927, the saloon steamer "Ludwig Fessler" was put into service. The paddle steamer was built by the Regensburg shipyard Theodor Hitzler. The steam boiler and the engine came from J. A. Maffei in Munich.
The ship was assembled in Prien am Chiemsee from the spring of 1926. It was a turbulent hustle and bustle: components were constantly being delivered, hammering and riveting, carpentry and painting were carried out. Everyone involved was eagerly awaiting the completion of the 53 m long and 11.60 m wide ship.
