The port town of Veere is located on the island of Walcheren in the southern Netherlands. The Campveerse Toren (Camp Veere Gate) at the harbor exit is the only remaining part of the late medieval city fortifications. In the early modern period, the town was expanded into a fortress. The bastions and ramparts are well preserved or restored, especially in the north and west of the town. A large part of the ramparts can be walked on.
