At this point, on the balcony of Radebeul, the first building of the observatory was built in 1959. It was a wooden hut that could be driven off on rails. Almost ten years later, the building complex of the new building was inaugurated. In the years that followed, further modifications or redesigns took place and more telescopes or other instruments were added again and again. A visit is very worthwhile.

The bronze “The Stargazers” from 1971, placed in front of the observatory, is also nice to look at.

The public observatory "Adolph Diesterweg" or Radebeul Observatory (Radebeul Observatory, A72) is an observatory and planetarium operated by the Saxon city of Radebeul. It is located on the border between the districts of Niederlößnitz and Naundorf (Auf den Ebenbergen 10a, in the extension of Mohrenstrasse) above the vineyards on Jacobstein, 120 meters above the Elbe in the area of the Ebenberge. The institution named in memory of the German educator Adolph Diesterweg has the international code A72. In 2014 the observatory had around 20,000 visitors.
