The Tavira Water Tower, officially known as the Torre de Tavira, is an iconic structure dating from 1931 that originally served the city's water supply. After its decommissioning in the 1990s, the tower was repurposed as a cultural attraction: the Camera Obscura of Tavira. This unique optical installation offers visitors a 360° panoramic view of the city in real time, projected onto a large screen inside the tower. The tower itself is 30 meters tall and is located near Tavira Castle and the Igreja de Santa Maria.

The Eye of Tavira
At the top of the Alto de Santa Maria, the highest point in Tavira, there is an old water tower. The tower was only built in 1931 to supply the city's population with clean drinking water, a technical feat at the time. For the first time, people had running water in their homes.
