1883 according to new plans and a cost estimate by C.F. Leins (36,000 marks) the laying of the foundation stone takes place on May 31st and the inauguration on December 9th. The church is named after the Waldensian leader Henri-Arnaud.
The Waldensian leader Henri Arnaud had a simple wooden church built in the Waldensian colony of Schönenberg opposite his vicarage (today a museum, waldenser.de). Henri Arnaud, who died on September 8th, 1721, is said to be buried there.
