The City Theater was first built 200 years ago.

It has been renovated, refurbished, and modernized many times since then.

The Regensburg Theater primarily performs operas, operettas, musicals,
as well as ballet and plays.

The wonderful three-tiered theater seats 519 people.

The theater offers performances almost every evening.

On June 18, 1849, the building burned down to the foundations in a major fire. In the same year, a provisional game operation was started in the premises of an innkeeper in today's Wittelsbacher Straße. The performances were supported by the Thurn Taxis with 6,000 guilders per year and made possible by making the entire fundus of the former princely theater in the Ballhaus available.
