This large synagogue was built in the Westend between 1908 and 1910. It was only repaired in the post-war period. It was restored to its original condition between 1989 and 1994.

The largest synagogue in Frankfurt is the Westend Synagogue on Freiherr-vom-Stein-Straße. The building survived the Kristallnacht pogrom as well as the subsequent years of Nazi rule - albeit badly damaged. Frankfurt's Westend Synagogue is an architectural gem and worth a visit just because of its magnificent dome. The original building was inaugurated on September 28, 1910 after two years of construction. The interior was one of the most elaborately designed synagogue interiors in Germany.
