Sion Monastery. From the former south-west of Mauchenheim, north of the Selz and near the forest of Vorholz, the Cistercian monastery of Sion, St. Maria, is today only a reconstructed wall of the former outbuildings above the corridor “in the Sion garden”. A bronze plaque commemorates the history of the monastery, and the “Sioner Klosterberg” vineyard location also keeps the memory of the former monastery alive. This was founded shortly before 1247 by Truchsess Werner von Alzey on own property. Source and much more details at klosterlexikon-rlp.de
