The path to the monastery entrance leads directly past the Lourdes Grotto. It houses the first statue of the Virgin Mary, created according to the specifications of Bernadette Soubirous for the Grotto of the Apparitions of Massabielle in Lourdes. However, the statue proved too small for her, so it was presented as a gift to Pope Pius IX.

Later, Pope Leo XIII presented it to Countess Raczynski of Bregenz/Marienberg. On her behalf, a Lourdes Grotto was built in the forecourt of the Capuchin monastery, and in 1888, the statue was ceremoniously transferred from the castle chapel to the new chapel.
