    Dağ bisikleti

The idea of converting the old railway tracks into bicycle paths was an ingenious idea of the Italians who love cycling. The Slovenians jumped on the "train", so to speak, and extended the upper Sava Valley to Jesenice / Aßling as well.
The tracks are still from the time of the monarchy and were adapted to the old steamers and their then low achievements, ie. minimal gradients.

    Dağ bisikleti

In the so-called border triangle Italy-Austria-Slovenia you can cycle wonderfully on old disused railway tracks through the mountains. And even without significant gradients.

The path primarily utilizes the bed of a disused railway line, meaning it's generally well-maintained and features minimal gradients, making it accessible for most cyclists. While much of it is paved, some sections, particularly between Tarvisio and Venzone, may include occasional gravel paths. Cyclists will also experience unique features like illuminated tunnels and impressive viaducts.

How long does it typically take to cycle a significant section of the Alpe Adria Path from Tarvisio?

The section from Tarvisio south towards Venzone is a popular choice. While the entire Alpe Adria Cycle Path is over 400 km, a comfortable day trip could cover the approximately 60 km from Tarvisio to Venzone, which typically takes 3-5 hours depending on your pace and stops. This stretch is largely downhill when heading south, thanks to its railway origins.

Are there specific points of interest or scenic viewpoints along the Alpe Adria Cycle Path near Tarvisio?

Absolutely! The path itself is a continuous scenic experience, winding through the Carnic and Julian Alps. What public transport options are available for accessing or returning from the Alpe Adria Cycle Path near Tarvisio?

Tarvisio Boscoverde is a railway station managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), with train services operated by Trenitalia and ÖBB. This makes it convenient for accessing the path.
