Close to heaven: Europe's highest place of pilgrimage is in Ziteil at 2,433 meters above sea level. According to historical evidence, the Mother of God once appeared here, which makes the church so popular with pilgrims. In order to reach the place of pilgrimage, you have to master a few meters in altitude, but you will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the Piz Bernina group and a soothing tranquility. For the full experience, you can also stay overnight in the simple accommodation: ziteil.ch/kontakt.

Here in Ziteil, on the eastern slope of the Piz Curvér, is the highest pilgrimage site in Switzerland at 2,429 meters above sea level. The pilgrimage chapel is not always open. If you're lucky enough to have it open, I recommend checking it out inside.
