I can still remember that traffic used to be directed through the Saiger Gate, which stands between the market and the free market. From 1972 it then belonged to the pedestrian zone.
The Saiger Gate is approx. 36 m high and is open for inspection every year on the day of the open monument.

From the former city fortifications, which were built in the years 1430 - 1439, old gate and defense towers are still preserved: the Molmecker gate tower, the Saiger gate, the Brücktor tower, the sugar loaf tower and the remains of the city wall in the city park. The Saigertor is Hettstedt's landmark and is 33 m high up to the flag tip.
