Hulshorsterzand is a beautiful expanse of drifting sand in the Veluwe. As owner, Natuurmonumenten has taken measures to counter the advancing afforestation in order to maintain the open character, which is quite unique for the Netherlands on this scale. This is not only of landscape value, but also essential as a habitat for vulnerable animals such as the viviparous lizard, the nightjar and the dune pipit. You can walk through the area and especially cycle along (the edges) of the drifting sand area, but keep in mind that it is really vulnerable nature.
