The legend tells of seven lazy sons of a poor farmer who go out into the world and come back with innovative ideas. The brothers are reminiscent of the Seven Lazy Fountain by Bernhard Hoetger and the figures by Aloys Röhr on the House of the Seven Lazy Men in Böttcherstraße in Bremen. More works of art by Bernhard Hoetger can be found on Böttcher-Strasse.

The legend of the Seven Lazy Men comes from the Bremen folk tale writer Friedrich Wagenfeld (1810–1846). The legend tells of seven lazy sons of a poor farmer who go out into the world and come back with innovative ideas. The Seven Rotten Fountain by Bernhard Hoetger and the figures by Aloys Röhr on the House of the Seven Rotten in Bremen's Böttcherstrasse are reminiscent of the brothers.
