Coming from the Kourtaliotiko gorge, the creek "Megalospotamos" ("big river") flows into a long, narrow, crystal-clear lake, which begins around the "Venetian" bridge, which in itself is an impressive building of Ottoman architecture. Such steep arched bridges are typical legacies of Ottoman architecture, our example dates from the beginning of the 19th century.
But it is not referred to as an Ottoman bridge as the monks of nearby Preveli monastery fought against the Ottomans.

The tavern with a view of the bridge and the small lake and the ducks and geese on it are one of our favorite places on the island, which is not exactly short on highlights.
Rarely overcrowded, you can unwind here. If you are very lucky, you can even see a griffon vulture that has wandered here from the mountains.
