In the years 1729 to 1733, the Old Church was built. The Erfurt Bishop Christoph Ignatius von Gudenus consecrated it in 1733.

As early as the 13th century there was a church in Leinefelde, which decayed over time. That is why today's Old Church was dismantled down to the tower and rebuilt from 1729-1733. With the construction, the tower received its baroque crown. It was consecrated in 1733. The interior could be equipped with donations. The baptismal font from 1500 comes from the original church. What is special are the valuable window glazing, the double Madonna from the 18th century and the high altar from 1737, which are still in their original colors today.

As the first church was badly damaged and the population had increased, a new church was built between 1729 and 1733 and consecrated by the auxiliary bishop Christoph Ignatius von Gudenus in 1733. The original church was torn down, but the old church tower was preserved and given a baroque dome. A baptismal font from around 1500 also comes from the first church. From the middle of the 19th century, this church became too small again as the number of residents and churchgoers increased.
