Today the town hall houses, among other things, the registry office. On the upper floor, the City History Museum shows a permanent exhibition and thematic special exhibitions on the history of Waren.

The pedestrian zone on Lange Straße and the many side streets of Waren's city center offer a cozy atmosphere for a shopping stroll. Many shops are certified, allowing Waren (Müritz) to call itself a top-notch shopping town.
The weekly market takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Neuer Markt, and
on Fridays there is also a fresh produce market selling exclusively food.
During the summer months, the Neuer Markt hosts fortnightly green markets
with fresh regional produce, as well as art and flea markets.
