The Stahlbrunnen is a mineral water spring in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe.
Its name refers to its high iron content.
In 1840, twin brothers François and Louis Blanc received a license to operate the Bad Homburg Casino.
This included the obligation to drill additional wells at their own expense to further enhance the spa's appeal.
The spa company commissioned the engineer Jules Ribes with the drilling.
In the fall of 1841, the Stahlbrunnen was the first to be drilled, followed shortly thereafter by the Kaiserbrunnen in what is now Bad Homburg's spa park.
