Typical town of slate houses in the northern mountains of Madrid. Originally it was a group of shepherds' huts and corrals that ended up being a place of permanent residence. For centuries its inhabitants cultivated cereals, vines and pastures for the 5,000 heads of varied cattle that inhabited their lands. With the construction of the reservoir, many of these farms were flooded. Today it is a magnificent enclave for outdoor activities, it is a crossing point for the Senda del Genaro and the start of many walking and cycling routes around it.
