Plaza de Cervantes is one of the many squares in the old part of Santiago de Compostela. It is a typical square of the city, with a fountain in the center and whose absolutely predominant material is stone.

The extremely imaginatively told stories about the tragic hero Don Quixote and his loyal squire Sancho Panza, who have to endure numerous strange adventures, are Spanish world literature in the best sense of the word. So it shouldn't surprise us to find a tribute to the writer and poet MIGUEL DE CERVANTES (1547 to 1616) - among other things, the "literary father" of the two aforementioned protagonists of his main work - in many cities on the Iberian Peninsula. A square in the Galician capital has also been named after him.
