The seaside castle, known as the Arab Norman castle, is a fortification that stands near the marina of Castellammare del Golfo, once an emporium of the city of Segesta. The castle is the symbol of the town on the gulf, but also of the entire island; it is in fact a witness and testimony of all the populations that have crossed Sicily in the last ten centuries.

Castello Arabo Normanno. Since it was built by the Arabs on the remains of ancient fortifications around the 10th century, it is a silent witness to ten centuries of turbulent history in this region. Repeatedly rebuilt by its successive conquerors and changing owners, it stood invariably at the entrance to the port. Interestingly, it was surrounded by the sea until the 1980s. Today, in the place where the waves used to wash the castle, there is a promenade, and the castle itself is public property - there is a museum center in it.
