The smallest of the churches in the village has long hosted the Mennonites. It is another testimony to the tolerant policy of Count von Wedel to Gödens.

In Neustadt Gödens there are 5 churches of different faiths. One of them was this former Mennonite creek, which today is the owner of a cafe / pub and accommodation. He lives in an apartment which can be reached via a spiral staircase inside, under the roof of the former church. Of these, there are still some items that give the current use its own beautiful charm. Also you can admire in Neustadt Gödens some houses with the current / former guild sign!

In the 17th and 18th centuries, the town of Gödens developed into the largest Mennonite settlement in East Frisia. In 1741, the construction of its own church was permitted.
