The old maritime station of Cherbourg now houses a museum which owes its existence to the Redoutable, the first French nuclear submarine. Its dismantling led to a movement that allowed the museum to see the light of day.

Great museum about the history of the nuclear submarine. Completely accessible, there is also an "interactive" aquarium attached (not only interesting for children 😉)
Price is about 20€ per adult - but it is a day ticket (you can go out and come back later)

The largest publicly accessible nuclear submarine, Le Redoutable, can be viewed from the outside without paying an entrance fee. You can also see the museum building and the roadstead here. With a bit of luck you can see an arriving or departing ferry.
