Impressive structures were built during the construction of the motorway.

This one is located between the motorway junctions Suhl-Friedberg and Schleusingen near Suhl in southern Thuringia. It spans the Wallersbach and several forest paths with eleven spans at a maximum height of 60 m. The route of the motorway in the area of the bridge has a radius of 800 m and a transverse gradient of 4.5% in plan and has a crest formation with a variable longitudinal gradient of 1.7% to 3.7% in elevation. The overpass was built with two separate superstructures between 2003 and 2006.

The pillars, which are up to 55 m high, have a flat foundation. The full cross-section of the high pillars is V-shaped. To accommodate the bearings, the octagonal cross-section at the pillar head widens into two rectangular cross-sections 7.8 m below the superstructure. The highest support has external dimensions of 7.0 m × 3.6 m at the bottom.

I always like to look at the massive and yet so delicate buildings that lead the A73 and A71 over the valleys of the Thuringian Forest. My favorite is the Bogen Viaduct in the direction of Albrechts.
