The Rhine Steps on Burgplatz is one of the most beautiful places on the Rhine and an important meeting place for the people of Düsseldorf, their guests and friends. By the way: These steps leading to the Rhine are not yet officially called “Rheintreppe”, but there are citizens of the city who would like it to be like that.

When strolling on the Rhine terrace, the outside staircase is a popular place to enjoy a view of the Rhine and the other bank of the Rhine. The mosaic that surrounds both sides of the stairs is often overlooked. It commemorates the many dead who died of AIDS.
