It is a freehold planned settlement that was built by the Wüstenrot company in 1935-1937. The settlement was supported by the Viennese citizens with cheap land and was part of the so-called black Vienna, which describes the construction activity in the corporate state. The settlement lies at the foot of the Bierhäuselberg, which takes its name from the extensive beer cellars of the Hütteldorfer Brewery. The Bierhäuselberg offers a beautiful view over the city of Vienna and the surrounding mountains.
