    The Forum Boarium was the livestock market of ancient Rome. It was located on a flat piece of land on the Tiber between the Capitoline, Aventine and Palatine hills. It was Rome's oldest forum and an important center for trade and religion. There were several temples dedicated to gods such as Hercules, Portunus and Fortuna. Some of these temples can still be seen in the current square, which is called Piazza Bocca della Verità.

    Tempio di Ercole Vincitore is a Roman temple in Piazza Bocca della Verità, the former Forum Boarium. It is a tholos, a circular temple of Greek 'peripteral' design, completely surrounded by a colonnade. The temple is dedicated to Hercules, the protector of the olive oil merchants, and dates from the late 2nd century BC. It is the oldest surviving marble building in Rome and the only one made of Greek marble.
