The footpaths between Ebrington and Chipping Campden go through 2 fields that were particularly difficult to walk through, one due cows having completely churned up the field, and the other completely overgrown with grass over waist high. I would take the road route back to Chipping Campden next time.

You will start in the charming market town of Chipping Campden, known for its medieval architecture and beautiful high street. The trail leads you through varied terrain, including shaded woodlands like Lynches Wood, which bursts with bluebells in May, and across quiet fields and rolling hills. A highlight is Dover's Hill, offering expansive panoramic views across the Cotswolds, the Vale of Evesham, and even distant landmarks like the Black Mountains and Malvern Hills from its 754-foot (230-metre) summit.
When planning your visit, be prepared for a mix of surfaces, including grass, dirt paths, stony tracks, and some road sections. The paths can become muddy, especially after wet weather, so appropriate footwear is essential. The route includes some steep ascents and descents, such as a long flight of steps through Lynches Wood, requiring good fitness and sure-footedness. While the full loop incorporates these steeper parts, some sections around Dover's Hill itself offer more level, grassy walks if you prefer a shorter excursion.
This trail offers a rich blend of natural beauty and cultural history. Dover's Hill is not only a viewpoint but also historically significant as the site of the annual Cotswold Olimpick Games, held since 1622, featuring unique events like shin-kicking. Chipping Campden, your starting point, is renowned for its picturesque beauty and marks the beginning of the 104-mile Cotswold Way, a portion of which you will follow. Although the loop passes near Hidcote Manor Gardens, the gardens themselves are not typically part of the walking path, but their proximity adds to the area's appeal, showcasing the meticulously crafted landscapes the region is known for.
