Here the scholars disagree. In Germany there are several areas in the Thuringia/Lower Saxony/Hesse border area that claim to be the center of Germany. Different calculation methods and perspectives lead to different results. No matter how: One of the geographic centers is very close to the village of Blankenbach.

This is where the 51st parallel and the 10th longitude intersect; this is where the confluence point 51°N 10°E is located. Assuming that the 51st parallel roughly bisects Germany in a north-south direction and the 10th longitude roughly bisects Germany in a west-east direction, this confluence point can certainly be seen as the center of Germany. The information board nearby points this out, as well as the fact that the confluence point is 43 meters away in the field.

The geographical center of Germany, determined by the confluence point, is just over a kilometer from the edge of the village of Blankenbach. A wooden sign points to it from the car park on the country road.
This is where the central longitudes and latitudes intersect. The 10th longitude east and the 51st latitude north meet in the Am Vogelherd district on a field of land.
