The historic Water Forge (hammer mill) in the Valley of Powaga in Oliwa is a monument of old technology, established in the 16th century (first mentioned in written sources in 1597). The forge consists of two wooden buildings situated parallel on both banks of the Oliwa Stream and connected with each other by a wide covered bridge. It is the only surviving and operational water forge in Poland.

Historic Water Forge. The first records of this building date back to 1597. Therefore, he had to act earlier in this place on the Oliwa Stream. In the past, such places were called water hammers or water forges, because large chunks of metal were forged and formed in them with hammers, which were then subjected to further, specialized processing in smaller forges. To this day, among others, a hammer, weighing about 250 kilograms, and a huge scissors powered by water wheels.
