In Zadar, as in Rome, there is a Roman Forum in the middle of the city. This was once surrounded by porticoes and statues. Today, in the shadow of the tamarisk trees, you can admire the paving stones polished by millions of feet. If you look closely, you will notice that the nearby church of Sveti Donat is almost entirely made of marble from the Roman Forum.
