The antique Pergamon altar was a model for the main grandstand of the Zeppelin field. Built in the years 1935-1937, the building was regarded as a prime example of National Socialist state architecture.

Today the ruin also serves as a grandstand for spectators when car races take place at the Norisring, the Nuremberg street circuit. B. the German Touring Car Championship (DTM). There it is then called the stone grandstand.

The Zeppelin Field with the Zeppelin Grandstand and the Zeppelin Meadow was the central event location on the Nazi Party Rally Grounds and offered space for up to 200,000 people. The zeppelin field with stone grandstands and 34 tower-like buildings was built in 1935-1936 according to plans by the architect Albert Speer. During mass productions by the National Socialists, the "Light Dome" provided spectacular effects, with over 150 particularly powerful spotlights shining vertically into the sky.
