The ruins of Thurant Castle (also known as Thurandt) stand on a broad slate spur high above the town of Alken on the Moselle. It is located in the district of Mayen-Koblenz (Rhineland-Palatinate) and belongs to the type of spur castles. A special feature - in addition to the location on the steep valley shoulder - are the vineyards on the sunny side.
